What is Voluntary Pre-K (VPK)?
Voluntary Pre-Kindergarted, abbreviated as VPK, is a government program that enables children to attend a state approved preschool for free. This program is available to all children who turn four on or before September 1, 2005. Family income is not a factor in approval.
At Primary Prep Preschool in Bradenton, we are approved by the state of Florida to offer both VPK programs. The school-year program begins August 24, 2009 and concludes May 24, 2009. Classes are Monday - Friday 8:30 - 11:30 and totals the required 540 hours of instruction. A summer program will be offered in 2010.
All schools who are qualified by the Department of Education to offer the Voluntary Pre-K Program must utilize a curriculum that is state approved. Primary Prep uses the Saxon Early Learning curriculum. This curriculum meets the educational goals set by the Department of Education.
Our preschool's teachers, here at Primary Prep, are certified and trained by the state of Florida to teach the Voluntary Pre-K class, and our VPK class is small with a maximum of ten children.
